Formerly suspended defensive lineman Lere Oladipo was dismissed from the Illinois football team Tuesday evening, according to a statement released by Kent Brown on behalf of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Daily Illini did not receive the initial release.

Oladipo was suspended indefinitely on Sept. 9 following Illinois’ game at Connecticut.

The 22-year-old sophomore faces allegations of domestic abuse from University of Illinois student Hana Inman-Grabow, who claims she was romantically involved with Oladipo.

Inman-Grabow announced plans to press charges against Oladipo and to sue the University via her Twitter account on Friday.

This comes after Inman-Grabow posted a thread on Twitter featuring pictures of injuries she claims she sustained from Oladipo.

Oladipo was suspended for four games in 2018 following an arrest in which charges were later dropped. He had three misdemeanors tied to domestic violence after an argument with a woman, which were dropped by Champaign County Assistant State’s Attorney Brooke Hinman after the woman and a witness changed their stories during testimony.
